In 1928 Antonio was born. From the difficult and obstinate character of his father, with whom he used to work since he was a child, during his spare time, he had inherited the qualities, the principles and the philosophy of life as man and as trader.
He was the forerunner of the new commercial trends, such as the discovery of the apples production from Alto Adige, which were still unknown, at that period, in the Centre and South of Italy; this was the reason why, in 1947, he created a stocking warehouse which would be used not only for trading but also for manufacturing industry.

Another innovative current was the importation and ripening of bananas, allowed by the end of the State Monopoly, and the torrefaction of dried fruits, which is why in the Sixties he asked the local artisans to build (following his project), the first and rudimentary roasting machines.

In 1980, because of the Italian scarce apples production, he promoted Greek and Turkish productions, which had been almost unknown and undervalued, until then.

Not only his children and grandchildren, but all the world he belonged to, consider him a reliable man, a man of his word. A tough but reliable trader; the beginner and the updater, the technician; the forerunner of the vocation to the international trade that characterises Interfrutta, a company which he founded in 1975, after the societal separation of the family.

His wife Cardone Maria Teresa and his sons Raffaele and Roberto collaborated with him since then, with a long, stubborn, and difficult work, full of sacrifice, in order to create new infrastructures, markets and customers. In 1986 Alessandro, the youngest of the five children, joined to this group.

Unfortunately in October 2001 Antonio Fatano passed away, just when the company was going through a period of great growth, establishing itself in some geographical ambits and with certain categories of products. He leaves a healthy, solid and well administrated company, which respects his spartan, concrete and plain style.

He impressed indelibly, in his heirs, a certain kind of management of the company: professional, rigorous, respectful of their engagements. Since 2002 Raffaele, Roberto and Alessandro are helped in the management by Antonio Marco and Antonio Nicola, sons, respectively, of Roberto and Raffaele.
